SUMMARY:Summer Concert Series: The Undaunted Professor Harp
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an outdoor concert featuring music from The Undaunted Professor Harp! \nAbout the Artist \nHugh Holmes\, Jr.\, is a New England-born specialist in Texas-style blues\, alternating between harmonica and fervent vocals. He developed his playing style alongside many great blues artists. R&B icon Solomon Burke called him “Professor Harmonica Holmes” and blues legend Muddy Waters dubbed him “The Professional of the Harp.” Accepting both names\, he became Professor Harp. \nProfessor Harp exemplifies dynamism within the blues tradition. He can be found performing throughout New England with his backup of guitar\, bass\, and drums. His music and life reflect his dedication to his craft and his heritage\, and he defines “roots music” as not just limited to the past\, but fully engaged in the present\, and the songs are a vehicle for calling attention to injustice. \nTo learn more about Professor Harp\, visit: https://www.professorharp.com/ \nThe concert series is generously supported by the Evelyn W. Preston Memorial Trust Fund\, Bank of America N.A.\, Trustee\, the Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation\, the CT Cultural Fund\, the National Endowment for the Arts\, and the CT Office of the Arts/DECD. \nLearn more about our summer concert series here. \nImage courtesy Jimdad Kenney.
