SUMMARY:Lunch and Learn - Faith Trumbull Huntington: An Eighteenth-Century Woman Encounters War
DESCRIPTION:Virtual Presentation! \nFaith Trumbull Huntington (1742/43-1775) was an extremely well-educated young colonial woman from Lebanon\, CT. Obsessively pious as well as artistically gifted\, she was the eldest daughter of merchant\, and future wartime governor\, Jonathan Trumbull. Trumbull’s investment in her education paid off as she married wealthy merchant Jedediah Huntington (1743-1818) from Norwich\, CT. \nIn this virtual talk\, Maggie Meahl will explore Faith’s education\, including her exceptional needlework\, marriage\, and early death\, and analyze it in the context of the Revolutionary War era merchant class. She has been published in numerous magazines and journals. She is currently writing a book on the rise and fall of the Huntington merchant family of Norwich\, CT.
