DESCRIPTION:This workshop is now sold out! Thank you for your interest\, we look forward to having you join us at future programs and events. \nJoin us in learning the basics of linocut printmaking! In this workshop\, led by artist Lara Miller\, you will be guided through the whole “block print” process: from designing a pattern\, transferring\, carving\, testing and printing your greeting cards to take home. No printmaking experience required\, and people of all artistic abilities are welcome. Even if you think you can’t draw\, you can print! All the tools and materials will be provided; however\, participants are encouraged to bring any print making tools they wish to use. \nLara Miller is a non-profit professional\, freelance artist & consultant\, writer\, and craftsperson. Her various art and craft forms consist of block printing\, decorative carving\, sewing\, embroidery\, painting\, pottery\, and more\, and she has taught classes in most of those crafts. Originally from Kentucky and West Virginia\, she now loves living in Suffield\, Connecticut. \nThis workshop will be structured for the beginner\, but all levels of expertise are encouraged to register! DESCRIPTION:The Connecticut Museum is pleased to invite all community members to a Vets Town Hall. Veterans of any era who served in any capacity are invited to stand before their community and speak for up to ten minutes about what it was like to serve their country. Non-veterans are encouraged to attend and listen. This event is non-political\, and all perspectives are valued. There will be no question-and-answer period or debate on American foreign policy. Attendees will simply listen and learn about what it was like to serve in the wars that this nation has chosen to fight. \nThe Vets Town Hall is free to attend\, and snacks will be provided. To RSVP as an audience member\, click here. \nIf you are a veteran who would like to speak at the event\, click here to fill out a brief web form. You can learn more about the guidelines for speakers here\, at the Vets Town Hall website. Time permitting\, veterans are also welcome to sign up to speak during the event itself. \nQuestions may be directed to Natalie Belanger\, Public Programs Manager\, at nbelanger@connecticutmuseum.org\, or call 860-236-5621 ext. 289. \nVets Town Halls were originated by author Sebastian Junger (War\, Tribe) with the aim of increasing communication and understanding between veterans and civilians in their communities. The first event of this kind took place in Marblehead\, Massachusetts\, in 2015\, and was led by U.S. Representative Seth Moulton\, a Marine combat veteran.
