Conversations with Connecticut Freedom Workers

May 27, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Please join us as four Connecticut Freedom Workers share their varied experiences as activists during the civil rights movement of the 1960s. In these conversations, Mardon Walker, Willie Mann, Mary Larsen, and Peter Kellman will talk about their participation in the movement.

They are among the many Connecticut freedom workers who supported the civil rights movement of the 1960s at home or by traveling south to participate in sit-ins, protests, and marches, including the 1963 March on Washington and the 1965 Selma to Montgomery March.

These four activists are among others who have shared their stories, artifacts, and images in the exhibition, Connecticut Freedom Workers: Remembering the Civil Rights Movement, which is currently on display at the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History.

This virtual program is free. To secure a spot, register now. You’ll receive an email confirmation with the Zoom link attached, and we’ll send you a reminder on the day of the program.

Questions? Contact Jennifer Busa, Public Programs and Special Events Coordinator, at jennifer_busa@chs.org.
