GIVE TODAY

Appreciated Stocks and Mutual Funds

This may be a good time for you to take advantage of the benefits of donating appreciated securities. When you give securities that have increased in value and have been held for more than one year, you receive the immediate reward of an income tax charitable deduction based on the current value of the asset as well as the avoidance of capital gains taxes. For information on donations of appreciated assets, please contact Chief Advancement Officer Jamie O’Brien at jobrien@connecticutmuseum.org.

Tax-Free IRA Charitable Rollover

The IRA charitable rollover, which allows taxpayers age 70 ½ or older to make tax-free charitable gifts of up to $100,000 per year directly from their Individual Retirement Accounts to eligible charities, including the Connecticut Museum, is now a permanent part of the U.S. tax code. This option can be used to satisfy required minimum IRA distributions.
