Excerpt:
“The Connecticut Museum of Culture and History was founded in 1825 after the Connecticut General Assembly approved a petition from citizens who wanted to preserve the state’s history, according to the museum’s website. Two hundred years later, it’s still going strong. The non-profit museum originally operated above a store on Main Street in Hartford, but in the 1950s, it purchased the house of inventor Curtis Veeder on Elizabeth Street, where it remains to this day. Over the years, it has amassed a collection of over 4 million objects from the Nutmeg State’s history, including paintings, manuscripts, diaries, letters, ledger books, architectural drawings, posters, swords, musical objects, maps and more.”
