Summer Concert Series: The Spiritual Souls

September 10, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Join us for an outdoor concert featuring music from The Spiritual Souls! This concert will take place on the beautiful CMCH lawn. Grounds are open for seating and picnicking from 4 PM, and music is from 5PM-6:30PM. All of the CMCH outdoor concerts are free and open to the public. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and food, and a food truck and craft vendors will be available onsite. In case of rain, the concerts will move indoors to our auditorium. All our summer concerts will be livestreamed to our YouTube Channel.

About the Band
The Spiritual Souls took up the family heritage of African American gospel music as children, and have been performing together for over forty years, following their motto of “the family who prays together, stays together.” Based in Waterbury, they have traveled all over the United States to perform a musical repertoire that includes a variety of gospel styles including traditional, quartet, and contemporary. Embodying a living and growing gospel tradition that spans locations from the church to the stage, The Spiritual Souls maintain a close connection to the faith that animates and inspires them.

The Spiritual Souls have received numerous awards for their music, including their induction in 2012 to the Holla-Back Gospel Awards’ Hall of Fame. They also have received an Official Citation from the State of Connecticut in 1998 and the key to the City of Waterbury in 2011 for their ongoing local musical contributions, which includes community outreach in form of the Gospel Expo in Waterbury, an outdoor festival that the group has run together with the Refuge Church of Christ since 1997.

Our Summer Concert Series is funded through the support of the Evelyn W. Preston Memorial Fund, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee; the Connecticut Office of the Arts/DECD; and the National Endowment for the Arts.
