Virtual Presentation!
Have you considered a roadside marker to recognize your community’s unique folklore? This virtual workshop introduces William G. Pomeroy Foundation’s Legends & Lore Marker Grant Program®, which helps communities nationwide recognize local stories, customs, and traditions passed down through generations. The Connecticut Museum is proud to be the state partner for this program.
Join speakers, Emma MacDowell, Research Historian and Engagement Associate at the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, and Kate Schramm, Director of Cultural Sustainability, to learn why folktales, local legends, long-standing community traditions and other forms of cultural heritage matter, what markers like this can do for your community, and how to prepare and submit a strong application. To date, the Foundation has funded more than 200 Legends & Lore markers. A Q&A will follow to answer questions and help you get started.
The Pomeroy Foundation’s next grant round opens August 24 through October 12, 2026.
