Rebellious
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
What does the Declaration of Independence mean to you?
Rebellious reflects on moments throughout Connecticut history when its people came together, pushed back, and sparked change to pursue their own visions of life, liberty, and happiness in America. Informed by the Museum’s vast collections, Rebellious unites 250 years of compelling Connecticut stories at local, state, and national levels.
WHAT TO EXPECT

Discover the stories of residents across Connecticut from the American Revolution to present day through the objects, photos, documents, and oral histories they used and created, such as:
- A powder horn used by a Connecticut soldier when the British attacked New London and Groton
- An outfit worn during a march on Washington in support of the Equal Rights Amendment
- Items from a laundry business run by Chinese immigrants in Bridgeport
As you explore, reflect on America’s founding and the Declaration’s enduring call to action through interactive stations throughout the exhibition.
