Short Attention Span Literary Club

July 10, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

If you like the idea of a book club, but are worried about the time commitment, this group is for you! We meet every couple of months and discuss short stories that have a connection to our exhibits and collections.

For our July meeting, we’ll read and discuss James Thurber’s classic “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.” This hilarious story of a beaten-down underachiever is set in 1930s Waterbury — we’ll use images from our Graphics collection to help set the scene. We’ll also look at some of Thurber’s best cartoons.

You can find “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” in many published Thurber anthologies, or access it online here. The cartoons can be seen here.

Free for CMCH members, $8 for no-members. This is a drop-in program, but we welcome RSVPs to help us better serve our visitors. Please email rsvp@chs.org or call 860-236-5621 ext. 238. Questions? Contact Natalie Belanger, Adult Programs Manager, at natalie_belanger@chs.org.
